Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency)
One year of experience in security; including work with child! ren, youth, planning activities, and monitoring program results preferred
Ability to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision
Ability to de-escalate conflict situations
Knowledge of relevant
security equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data and property
Ability to deal sensitively and fairly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
Ability to interface effectively (written/verbal) with students, parents and all levels of district personnel
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
Organizational, prioritization, communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
Must be computer literate and willing to attend training sessions
Criminal and/or other related law enforcement experience is a plus
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus!
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have ! a valid Texas driver license
Willing to undergo a criminal background check and drug screening
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Provide prevention and detection of criminal activity and safety hazards; enforce traffic, parking, student code of conduct and other district regulations; and provide overall assistance to the school campus community
Assist in restraining, apprehending, and/or escorting disruptive or arrested individuals
Patrol all exterior and interior areas of the campus, while ensuring direct interaction with students and district personnel within the assigned jurisdiction
Write factual, clear, legible and concise reports of unusual activities and criminal incidents occurring on or near the campus
Resolve conflict or confrontation between students, district personnel, visitors or other persons on the assigned campus, and reports all incidents or criminal activity immediately to the supervisor
Keep abreast o! f policies and procedures of the Board of Trustees and the district and adhere to Safety and Security rules of conduct listed in the Dallas ISD Officer Handbook
Adhere to existing district and department grooming standards and dress policies at all times for uniformed personnel
Attend all scheduled meetings as required by the supervisor
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. A campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the chief officer - Human Capital Management.
