Applicants must have a database/direct mail background with analyt! ics experience â" someone that is good with MS Excel and numbers. This is a client facing role, previous client facing experience is required. Contract is through summer 2014.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Represents client as an Account Supervisor managing direct marketing programs for one or more client accounts, including strategic planning, project execution and results analysis. Oversees account staff and supervises all agency activity related to the client account. Ensures account profitability. Develops and maintains relationships with clients through daily contact and ensures client satisfaction. Possesses up to date knowledge of all work in progress.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Manages execution of projects, delegates tasks and monitors progress to ensure timely, accurate delivery of service.
Develops direct marketing recommendations and agency point of views.
Develops budget forecasts, retainer reconciliation and budget/actua! l variance explanations.
Leads client review meetings! and agency presentations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Participates in the development of strategic direct marketing plans to meet client business objectives. Develops direct marketing recommendations for each initiative, including target audience definition/refinement, testing plan, offer recommendations, response flow and creative recommendations.
Oversees implementation of all projects ensuring accurate, efficient and timely execution. Ensures that all client requests are handled in a timely manner.
Supervises creative development. Develops insightful, thought-provoking Creative Briefs. Leads the creative team in the development and execution of creative concepts.
Supervises in-house data processing activities to ensure accuracy. Monitors quality control procedures and revise as necessary.
Supervises production activities to ensure accuracy and quality of printed materials.
Possesses an in-depth knowledge of the c! lientâs business and product lines and utilize that knowledge to establish credibility with client counterparts. Monitors competitive activities and provides recommendations to client based on opportunities or challenges identified.
Oversees account financial activities. Supervises project estimating, billing and reconciliation. Develops annual budgets. Ensures account profitability based on established Agency objectives for the account.
Supervises account staff ensuring staff efficiency, productivity and job satisfaction. Participates in their annual reviews. Provides growth opportunities for subordinates.
Develops thorough understanding of the clientâs database and leverages database opportunities in direct marketing programs.
Manages analysis of program results and makes recommendations for future programs.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
Maintains an open line of communication between clients, business partners, and Acco! unt Services.
Effectively negotiates client and agency needs a! nd desires. Uses persuasive techniques to position agency recommendations to client.
Develops rapport and an atmosphere of trust among agency team members. Mediates differences between groups and gains support of the team for a common goal.
Leads the development of the annual Account Services budget.
Generates new ideas and innovative solutions. Identifies new opportunities for business growth. Searches for ways to improve service to clients.
Remains current with direct marketing industry standards and innovations.
Assists the Management Supervisor, and VP/Account Director with special projects as deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using s! ome other combination of skills and abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills required. Must be familiar with the use of presentations, conference reports, status reports.
Thorough understanding of direct marketing and creative principles and concepts.
Ability to work independently and with others as part of a team with integrity, professionalism, and dependability.
Proven record in execution of detailed projects and to demonstrate critical decision making skills.
Thorough knowledge of database management and direct marketing systems.
Mandatories
QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. College degree required. Degree in Business, Marketing, or Communications preferred.
Seven to nine years relevant experience in direc! t marketing management. Thorough understanding of database, direct mark! eting and creative principles and concepts. Proven track record in development of strategic direct marketing plans. Experience with MS Office required, specifically Excel.
