Develops and directs implementation of standards, processes and systems to enhance quality, consistency, efficiency, and time! liness of responsibilities within the patient access department. Also serves as a technical expert and a resource to staff, patients and visitors. Consistently demonstrates the core values of Children's Medical Center and serves as a role model to other employees. These services further the mission of Childrens Medical Center which is to Make Life Better for Children. Essential Duties and Respsonsibilities
Perform all duties and responsibilities of patient access department. Participates in program development and department process improvement. Assists Manager in communicatinon of new procedures or staff changes. Appropriately engaging staff participation and monitoring staff compliance. Clear understanding of the Revenue Cycle and practices as they pertain to patient access.
Assigns work to assure that all staff hours are efficiently utilized with either the immediate tasks or future related work. Completes payroll functions. Establish and maintain staff schedules! , and ensuring adequate coverage. Responsible to effectively m! anage their time to ensure timely completion and reporting of projects and other administrative duties. Coordinates and supervises daily operations of the patient access functions in order to ensure quality, compliance and fiscally responsible services in an efficient and cost effective manner
Acts as role model and provides effective problem-solving or general assistance to all levels of Patient Access Services. Consults and communicates with staff, patient access manager, leads, patient access director, and other hospital departments as required, to maintain efficient hospital operations. If responsible to analyze problems and elevate to department leadership as appropriate.
Monitor inidividual staff performance, coaching, mentoring, training and provide constructive feedback, both positive and negative and be an active participant in performance improvement efforts. Provides staff education and training and is responsible to motivate, orient, reward and recognize! staff. Must remain current on all regulatory requirements to include HIPAA regulations, and Joint Commission standards
Participates in interviewing applicants and in the selection of new employees.
Performs other duties as assigned or as necessity dictates. QualificationsEducation
High school diploma or equivalent required
High school diploma required; additional training beyond high school preferred Licenses & certificationsExperience
Minimum 1-2 years of job related experience required Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities
Spanish/English fluency desired Physical Demands
Light - Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
