Job Description Summary/Essential Duties:
The Visiting Scholar program is a temporary appointment, recommended for up to two years at the discretion of the College President.
1. Teaches students effectively in assigned classes and! maintains office hours for student consultation in accordance with procedures outlined in the Dallas County Community College Board Policy Manual and/or agreed upon with immediate supervisor. 2. Provides students with a written course syllabus that should include items specified by the college and/or Dallas County Community College System. 3. Participates in the evaluation of the instructional process and uses innovative strategies to continually improve learning.

4. Participates in development and support of their discipline by recommending books and materials, revising curricula, and recommending teaching assignments when appropriate. 5. Maintains accurate and complete course records as required by law and the Board of Trustees Policies and Procedures Manual. 6. Performs professional activities and assumes professional responsibilities as

agreed upon with the division dean, and works with colleagues to achieve

shared goals and visions. Values t! he collaborative process. 7. Uses knowledge of diverse communities and learning styles and has the ability to incorporate diversity of delivery of such learning styles in instruction.

8. Participates in student advising and registration. 9. Utilizes technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.

Applications are being accepted for full time staff nurses in the Psychiatric Emergency Department, in Dallas. Shift will be 11am - 7:30pm Monday through Friday with alternating holidays. There will be no weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
T! he position requires a Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years exp! erience in an Emergency Room and three years working in an adult, acute mental health setting with emphasis on substance abuse symptom identification, treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and possessing a veteran-centered, recovery orientation to care and treatment.

Following is a list of required skills and knowledge:
a. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

b. Applicant must demonstrate practice skills in managing complex emergencies with a strong background in managing patients with cardiac, endocrine and respiratory problems.

c. Applicant must demonstrate nursing practice characterized by interventions that promote mental health, assess dysfunction, assist patients to regain or improve their coping abilities, maximize strengths, and prevent further deterioration.

d. Applicant must have the demonstrated ability to utilize the nursing process in managing acute patient care and rapid patient turn-over.
e. Applicant must have the demonstrated skill in collaborating with other team members to include technical and professional staff across the care continuum.

f. Skills must include the ability to conduct a nursing assessment for medical-surgical and psychiatric triage and performing psychiatric nursing intake assessments and evaluations, monitoring patients and assisting them with acute care activities, administering and monitoring biopsychosocial treatment regimens, health teaching, counseling and crisis care.

g. Applicant must be highly effective in providing educational instruction to patients and their family members.

h. Applicant must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, dependability, motivation and commitment to the mission of the VA and Mental Health.

i. Applicant must be proficient in the use of Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).

j. Applicant must have the physical capabilities to initiate crisis interv! ention measures along with the ability and willingness to accomplish sa! tisfactory training and performance in nursing care emergencies.

k. Applicant must complete 12 hours (minimum) of Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior training with recertification and have the ability to execute the skills learned.

l. Applicant must assist with maintaining a therapeutic environment.

The staff nurse will participate on various mental health service committees/councils to support shared governance and the Magnet Process.

Current BCLS and ACLS is required. Certification in the specialty is preferred. Applicant must be willing to become certified within the first two years of employment.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Educati! on (CCNE). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia . In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Must be proficient in spoken and written English .

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core comp! etencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ! ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.

  • Lead Sales Representatives and Merchandisers to ensure maximum sales/profits from assigned ac! counts. Coach, direct, and counsel Sales Representatives and Merchandisers on overall performance. Define expectations and monitor progress.
  • Assist with scheduled division meetings with Sales Representatives. Responsible for monitoring new products, services, and policies. Advise Sales Representatives of new promotions/programs.
  • Responsible for managing division vacation schedule with General Sales Manager.
  • Review and coordinate sales programs with Universal Sales Representatives.
Reporting:
  • Provide regular and accurate sales management reports for the assigned division to General Sales Manager. Address new business opportunities, current levels of sales/service, territory improvement plans, and competitive activity.
  • Work with General Sales Manager and POS Manager to distribute all POS to all Sales Representatives and Merchandisers.
Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B! achelor’s degree or the equivalent thereof in related experience.
  • One to five years field experience in selling alcoholic beverages or grocery products at the retail level.
  • Strong communication skills â€" written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, facilitation of strong working relationships.
  • Strong supervisory skills in directing and coaching others. Must be able to direct and control the quantity/quality of work performed by subordinates. Requires the ability to manage deadlines and deliver achievement of assigned goals and objectives.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license. Job requires the ability to secure and maintain auto-liability insurance in accordance with state laws.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a State Sales Permit in accordance with state laws and must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Extensive travel, from time to time may involve driving distances of up to 200 miles.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move 30 to 40 pound cases, and stand for extended periods of! time.
